Phase II at Sutton Farm comprised of the design and construction of 8no. new single storey dwellings on land to the north of the main barn. QAD were commissioned to re-design the scheme including the dwellings which had previously received outline planning approval.
Key to the success of the project was the provision of high quality contemporary accommodation for the over 50’s that respected both the urban edge of Norton and dwellings to Heron Way whilst ensuring the setting of the Grade II listed barn at Sutton Farm was not adversely affected.
The elevational treatment to the dwellings was developed to give an ‘Arts and Crafts’ appearance with the use of traditional chimneys, steep pitched roofs and carefully proportioned windows with glazing bars.
Internally each dwelling is designed to provide a spacious hallway and primary accommodation to ensure that the dwellings are appropriate for the changing needs of older residents. Where possible ensuite accommodation is provided and family bathrooms are located adjacent to a large bedroom to allow for future alteration to provide ensuite facilities.
