QAD were commissioned to assist Westgate Academy, a primary school in Lincoln, bid for a share of Condition Improvement Funds that had been allocated for academic year 2017/18.
To ascertain relatively secure costs the service initially was to run from RIBA Stage 0-3. Given the historic nature of the site and its locale significant co-ordination was required with Historic England, the Local Planning Authority and the local Conservation Officer.
The design of the two new classrooms will replace dilapidated 1980s mobile facilities with modern airy teaching spaces fully meeting the requirements of Department for Education guidelines. This will also provide environmentally superior product vastly reducing the schools’ spend on heating and providing an environment conducive to learning.
“My Team Leader and Manager were impressed with the overall quality of finish and materials. A great example of combining modern with the original detailing.”
Tom Hobson, City of Lincoln Council
